Artist Statement
Becca Griffin (SHE/THEY), or Becca the Witch, is a local creator, director, and arts educator. With the support of their inner child, Becca loves to build new things (puppets, scenes, theatre sets) from found and repurposed materials. Becca offers creative workshops and Maker Table facilitation, and is a professional actor, and children's theatre director. They teach these skills to children and youth during after school programming with the Stratford Youth Centre, and The Victoria Playhouse Theatre School.
Biography
For the most part, Becca works as an arts administrator, educator, and children's theatre director. She has produced multiple plays with the Victoria Playhouse Theatre School, and the Stratford Youth Centre Drama Club.
Becca offers one-off workshops in puppet and mask making, community centred projects, and projects that require creating something new from repurposed materials. Please contact for details about rates!
Becca's puppets have been feature in the River Clyde Arts festivals, "Sharing the Field," where they produced their first puppet show called "Catching Fish," as well as in their "Solstice Walk" community projects. They have been a member of the River Clyde Pageant community since 2020.
Becca also began her very own theatre for young audiences company in 2014 called The Cat's Pajamas Theatre Co. Becca has acted professionally with many organizations across the island making her debut in 2014 at Victoria Playhouse. Becca's break into voiceover work was as the narrator for Saving Glenaladale, a doc series by Beachwalker Films Inc on FibeTV1.
