Biography

Sharlene is a PEI-based filmmaker who has been an active member of Charlottetown's film industry since 2016. Sharlene produced the comedy short "GUSTAV THE SNOW CHEF," which was featured on CBC’s Short Film Face-Off XIII, and the comedy series "AWW, SHUCKS" for Bell Fibe TV1. She is an alumnus of the Whistler Film Festival by successfully completing the WFF/PEI Accelerator Program in June 2024.

Sharlene and her collaborator Jenna participated in the JETS co-production pitch          competition in Berlin earlier this year. They are now in their seventh year of collaboration, establishing a proven track record in mentorship and community building within the industry. Additionally, Sharlene and her team are piloting a Mental Wellbeing Initiative for crew members and are actively seeking additional funding to support this important project outside of the production budget.

As the operations manager of the 10th annual Charlottetown Film Festival, Sharlene also plays a significant role in the local community. She manages and organizes monthly mixers to combat isolation and loneliness among local filmmakers. Recognized as a community builder, she maintains strong relationships with creative organizations such as FilmPEI, MusicPEI, the East Coast Music Awards, WIFT-AT and Art in the Open.
