Artist Statement

Logos, comic art, the occasional painting...I love being able to create cool things that tell a story, communicate a mood, or capture the imagination.

Biography

I am an athlete turned creative. I attended Holland College in my 30's and studied graphic design. I learned a little about illustration as well and wanted to learn more.

Since then, I've worked as a graphic designer for myself, a sign shop, and a marketing company. In addition, I have freelanced as an artist for trading card companies across the globe for all sorts of pop-culture licenses. I also founded the GDGC—a community of graphic designers on Prince Edward Island.

Currently, I am teaching Graphic Design at Holland College, volunteering with Skills Canada on the National Technical Committee for Graphic Design, taking care of two beautiful Olde English Bulldogges, freelancing on the odd design job, consulting, and still taking on the occasional sketch card contract.

I am open to commissions, discussing graphic design development on PEI, and honey crullers.

Client Testimonial:

Emmy's Mom: “Did he (Mike) do good job?”
Emmy (5 years old): “Yes because it looks exactly like Spider-Man. He coloured out of the lines but don’t worry mom, if he just practices he’ll get better”
