Artist Statement
Emily Benoit (she/her) is a Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island based event and documentary photographer with a focus on community and visual storytelling. She grew up hearing the words "there's nothing to do here" and viewed it as a challenge to say "no, there definitely is, I'll show you," and made it her mission to show how entertaining and fantastic the island and the people in it can be. Eventually she hopes to move into more personal artistic works through photojournalism, but for now she is more than happy to document other people's work.
Biography
Emily Benoit (she/her) is a Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island based event and documentary photographer with a focus on community and visual storytelling. Since the moment she got her first camera at the age of twelve, she has been taking photos of events, anything from lectures to musical performances and beyond. From there she went on to work contract work with CBC, Sobeys, Charlottetown Film Festival, Club Red Productions, Moonlight Bazaar, local musicians and artists and many more.
