Creating and discovering today's trash before it's tomorrow's art.

Biography

A graduate of the Film & TV Production Program (Humber College, Toronto), Dave (he/him) got his start in professional writing with the first issue of The Buzz (1995). Since then, he’s written for SOLEDAD, Art Decades, Rue Morgue, Studio CX (Cathay Pacific), CBC PEI, and restroslashers.net, among others. In the early 2000s, his And Yet I Blame Hollywood cartoon was adapted/broadcast nationwide on CBC-TV's ZeD. An ad man at Graphcom, Dave’s recent projects include: Dark Sanctuary (comic book series with Sandy Carruthers), Monster Man (short horror story collection), Fear from a Small Place (multi-author anthology), the Queer history “talkumentaries” Before Grindr and POSITIVE (both online), The Satan Show (Island Fringe Festival), Arthole and Glory Hole (multi-artist exhibitions, The Guild), and reader/contributor to Charlottetown (live) and 2019 Calgary Pride (online) performances of Toronto’s Queer Songbook Orchestra. In 2021, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award (City of Charlottetown; Arts & Culture Awards), in 2022, a PEI Heritage Award (PEI Museum & Heritage Foundation), and in 2023, a City of Charlottetown Heritage Day Award. In 2024, he was named Favourite Writer 2023 by Sequential Magazine for his work on Dark Sanctuary.
