About Our Organization

Situated on what was the McPhail family farm, the Homestead illustrates the story of Andrew, one of the 10 children, who after graduating from a two-room school, went on to become a medical doctor and professor at McGill University, authored 10 books and enlisted for the First World War at the age of 50. Visitors are welcome to tour the beautifully restored homestead and to view exhibits that reflect the life and times of this outstanding Islander (1864-1938). Enjoy tea parties, Sunday Lunch and Lectures, Tea Room lunches, workshops and more. 140 acres with gardens, walking trails, ecological forestry project and native tree and shrub nursery are open for your enjoyment.
