About Our Organization
Our chorus began in 1982 as the Abegweit Chimes. In 2014 the chorus rebranded itself as Island A Cappella and has earned a reputation as a well-known and respected entertainment organization with a one-of-a-kind sound that has entertained audiences across the province.
Our chorus is a diverse and multi-generational group of fun-loving, energetic women. We LOVE to sing and perform, whether it is at festivals and events across the Island, at local manors, churches, community functions, fundraisers, or just at our weekly rehearsals. We also have a number of quartets made up of chorus members who perform as a part of chorus functions as well as on their own.
And yes, we sing competitively too, as a part of our membership with Harmony, Inc.!
Our chorus is a registered non-profit organization and a chapter within the "Area 1" of Harmony, Inc., an international, non-profit organization created to empower all women through education, friendship and – of course – a cappella singing in the barbershop style!
